Fearless Faith is a short and sweet devotional by Joan Huffman, which covers topics such as courage and brokenness from a Biblical perspective.

The Good

  • A decent two week long devotional
  • Use of Bible passages.
  • Easy to understand
  • After reading on a topic Huffman has questions for deeper thoughts.
  • I enjoyed the personal touch included in many of the chapters.
    • Especially with chapters “Seeds of Faith,” “Giants,” “Obedience,” “Courage,” “Scars.”
  • Practical book which covers having a “Fearless Faith.”
  • Books design and outline is easy to follow.

The Bad

  • The topics are short and do not dive deep enough for my taste.
  • Although with each chapter being longer, I wished the book was longer.
  • I disagree with the interpretation of the passage in “Talents.” I believe Jesus was speaking of sharing the Good News of Christ with people and not hording sparing the gospel and keeping it to ourselves, instead of speaking of personal talents.

The Unsure*

  • This devotional is for a specific person in mind.
  • Not so much a knock against the book, but I dislike the quote from Joel Osteen. I believe Joel Osteen preaches a gospel of prosperity and is a false teacher. Here’s a few of his prosperity gospel quotes taken from “Your Best Life Now.”
    • “God wants to increase you financially, by giving you promotions, fresh ideas and creativity.”
    • “We receive what we believe. Unfortunately, this principle works as strongly in the negative as it does in the positive.”
    • “God has already done everything He’s going to do. The ball is now in your court. If you want success, if you want wisdom, if you want to be prosperous and healthy, you’re going to have to do more than meditate and believe; you must boldly declare words of faith and victory over yourself and your family.”
  • I don’t like the cover.

*My opinion: what I didn’t care for or do not prefer. This will not lower a rating unless it overly distracts from the story.

I enjoyed this devotional, but I believe this book is too short, and I wished the chapters expanded on the great topical titles. Check out the book on Amazon.
