Open Circle, by Stacy Monson, is an intriguing story about Alzheimer’s disease, romance, and so much more.
The Good
- Solid writing
- Monson accesses the minds of Mindy and Jackson, in a simple way, and creates a credible story.
- “She dropped her head into her hands and squeezed her eyes shut. What did she know about running a center?”
- “‘Hey.’ She waited, hearing an inner clank as her defenses slid warily into place.”

- This book is beyond a romance novel.
- Although the romance is fitting and believable, I prefer the background (and foreground) stories.
- I appreciate the depth to the plot.

- Leaves questions, but satisfies the main plot, instead of creating an information dump to conclude the book.
- Believable characters
- I cannot speak for any of the other characters, but Jackson is how an artistic person ‘could’ think and act.

*My opinion: what I didn’t care for or do not prefer. This will not lower a rating unless it overly distracts from the story.
I have never read a romance novel, and so I was pleasantly surprised when this book moved beyond a romantic relationship. I enjoyed Open Circle and I recommend it, although this book isn’t out until June 21, 2018, you may pre-order on Amazon.
